Art Studio Assistant

Part-time Studio Assistant (24-30 hours per week) / Permanent

Job Overview:
The role will involve assisting in the art studio on a range of tasks. Organisational skills, the ability to use social media well and a driving license will be required to fulfil the studio assistant duties. We are looking for a candidate that is organised, friendly, adaptable, and motivated to work alongside our existing team at Toni Thornton Art.

Salary:
£10 per hour / Paid monthly

Responsibilities and Duties:
As a studio assistant, you would need to help with the day to day running of the art studio. Responsibilities and duties would be varied some of these would include the following:


Working closely alongside Toni Thornton (Artist) to organise and schedule the diary.


Organising and packing of artwork and products to send to our customers, worldwide.


Dealing with postal companies and systems.


Ordering stock and building relationships with suppliers.


Helping to keep the studio organised and tidy.


Collecting and delivering to/from the framing company and other relevant companies.


Working closely with Laura Robinson (PR and Marketing) to help with the Toni Thornton Art brand.


Setting up and assisting with client meetings.


Assisting with photoshoots and product shots.


Assisting with exhibitions and events (which could include some weekend work, but notice would be given.)


Creating content for social media (where required and only when approved initially.)


Washing brushes and keeping studio equipment in good working order.

Qualifications:


Education
GCSE English and Maths desirable


Experience
Previous experience in which organisation was a key part of your role.


Specific skills
To fulfil the role as studio assistant you would need to be organised, able to manage time well, confident, knowledgeable in relation to the duties and responsibilities already listed – and overall you must be committed to becoming a key member of the Toni Thornton Art team.


Personal characteristics
The Toni Thornton Art team value kindness, the ability to listen, the skills to be able to reflect and improve and we need the studio assistant that will join our team to be committed to working alongside us in a calm and enjoyable working environment. You would also need to be willing to learn and become confident in eventually welcoming clients into the studio and discussing options and ideas with them, full training will be provided for this and we are a very helpful, approachable team.


Licenses
The role will include some driving, it is desirable that the studio assistant would hold a clean UK driving license and their own vehicle.


Physical abilities
The role of studio assistant will include some physical work. The studio is currently on 2 levels with a staircase and there will be some lifting and physical work involved when packing and organising deliveries too.
