This painting depicts an old dock yard, hence the title, Dock. The textures within the painting give a sense of lined up vessels and outer buildings storing naval supplies, with an abstraction that allows the viewer to interpret the marks in their own way. This painting has a soft background palette of greys, off-white and taupe, juxtaposed with deeper black and burnt umber marks; finished with flashes of brass striking through like sunlight reflecting on the waters surface.
